A Happy Farewell

Last week we said goodbye to the following equipment (forever hopefully): 2 LTV950 ventilators, a Fisher hot pot, a 30lb battery, and numerous connector wires, and back-up chargers.

We still don't have the results from Mikan's sleep study, so nothing is scheduled yet. We were told it should only take three days, but it has been ten.

Mikan still isn't walking. He got another strap added to his SMOs to force his heel down because he tends to walk on his toes. We may have to make additional modifications or switch to AFOs for real progress to be made. I think he is gaining stability, but he still has many bad habits.

However, Mikan's map skills are improving. He points to the wall and signs "please" because he wants us to quiz him. He has been teaching his nurses a little about geography.

Wow! That is super exciting!!!
Does the place almost seem empty?
;0)
Wondering if you have considered buying him "squeaky shoes"? We have them for our daughter because she is a wanderer. They promote them as therapy shoes though. The squeaker is only in the heel...so it encourages "toe walkers" to come down. *my daughter has orthodics and they fit perfectly. Just a thought!
Congratulations on such a HUGE milestone. :0)

Congrats of getting rid of equipment! That must be the best feeling. The LTV machine is the same exact one we use for bipap at night:)

Yay for less equipment! That's awesome! Ava has DAFOs and they help so much!

Hooray, what a wonderful day! Getting rid of that vent has got to be such a good feeling, such a milestone!

I hope the walking issue can be figured out soon. Pretty frustrating for him and you, I bet.
